At St. Joe Pride, we believe that your trust and privacy are paramount. We stand firmly behind this basic principle: we will never sell, trade, or share your email addresses or personal contact information with third parties.

Any information collected through this directory is used strictly for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and verifying listings on the Rainbow Directory.

Email Address Collection & Usage

To maintain directory security, prevent spam, and verify listing accuracy, we collect different types of email addresses. They are handled according to the following strict usage policies:

• Public Business Email: Collected voluntarily when submitting or editing a listing. This email address is shown publicly on your business listing profile so customers can contact your business. It is never sold or used for marketing by St. Joe Pride.
• Internal/Private Contact Email: Collected during listing registration. This email is NEVER published or shown to the public. It is used strictly for targeted, automated communications about your listing, including:
  • Confirming initial listing submissions (double opt-in verification)
  • Sending moderation status updates (approval or constructive decline feedback)
  • Alerting you to community edit suggestions so you can review them
  • Sending annual reaffirmation checkups so you can renew your listing in one click
• Backup Contact Email: Collected optionally. It is NEVER published and is only used if we are unable to reach you at your primary internal email address.
• Private Submitter / Reporter Email: Collected when submitting an edit suggestion or listing report. It is NEVER published and is used solely to verify the submitter's identity (double opt-in verification) and to prevent automated abuse/spam.
• Appeal Email: Collected when appealing a listing or submission restriction. It is used strictly to communicate with you about your appeal status.

Security & Protection Mechanisms

We employ several advanced security protocols to keep your information safe:

• Strict XSS Escaping Shield: All user-supplied input is sanitized and escaped to prevent Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks.
• Double Opt-In Verification: Form submissions require clicking a secure verification link sent to your inbox. Verification tokens expire automatically after a set period.
• Bot Protection: We use Cloudflare Turnstile CAPTCHA to verify that all form submissions are from human users, protecting our system from spam bots.
• Access Controls: Administrative access to listings is restricted to authenticated St. Joe Pride moderation staff through Cloudflare Zero Trust.
• Automated Nightly Backups: To protect against data loss and support disaster recovery, we generate automated nightly backups of the directory database (containing public details and private/backup owner contact emails) in CSV format. These backups are emailed securely to St. Joe Pride administrators via Resend and are strictly used for system recovery.

Your Rights & Data Control

Because participation in the Rainbow Directory is entirely voluntary, you maintain full control over your business listing details:

Edits: You can submit suggested corrections or updates to your listing at any time using the Suggest Correction form.

Removal: If you wish to remove your listing from the directory entirely, you can let it expire at the end of its 365-day cycle, or request immediate removal by using the Suggest Correction form to select your business and stating your request for removal in the reason field.
